Hey, I’m Samantha Merrie (Sam) from The Merrie Doula and I am a certified doula and lover of all things birth! I’m based in Perth, Western Australia and live in the northern suburbs with my husband & two feisty and independent daughters who were born in 2020 & 2022.
As a birthing woman, I believe that you should be given the opportunity to own your birth. I will provide you & your family continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, birth & the postpartum period. By providing you with factual resources and evidence throughout these periods, you can make informed choices & feel fully responsible for those decisions.
Having experienced hyperemesis gravidarum, also known as HG, for the entirety of my pregnancies, I understand all too well that sometimes the way society paints pregnancy just isn’t the way we experience it. And that is ok! From physical to mental struggles, I’ll always hold a safe space for women that are finding the reality of pregnancy a little difficult. And although pregnancy may be challenging, it doesn’t mean you can’t have an incredible birth!
After my own experience with our first daughters’ birth in 2020, I became passionate about supporting women during pregnancy and childbirth, it gives me immense joy to provide comfort, education, and guidance to expecting parents. Her labour & birth was a beautiful eye-opening experience for me and my husband, and since then I have been learning and growing my knowledge of childbirth and motherhood. I am committed to continuing my education through attending workshops, reading the latest research, and engaging in regular discussions with other birth professionals.
As your doula, I offer a range of packages that are created by you, for you! Every pregnancy & birth journey is so different and for that reason, I work with you regarding what you need throughout our time together.
My philosophy is that birth should be a joyful, happy, “Merrie” celebration for women, babies and their families, as your doula, I strive it make it as positive and inspiring as possible.
