Hey! I’m Kirsten and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I’m married to a wonderful man; we’ve been together since we were 16 and now raising three beautiful babies.
In 2019 we had our son who was born by emergency caesarean. I was devastated by with my birth!! I felt like such a failure! When I became pregnant again, at first I was hesitant to try for a VBAC but I’m SO glad decided to try, I got excited and it ended up the most amazing, empowering experience and ended up going on to have another successful VBAC birth. Both were so different but so beautiful and unique.
My husband and kids are my world. I spend most of my time with them as they’re still small little humans navigating the world. But I love spending time at the beach watching the ocean and the kids playing in the sand. I love camping, spending time in nature and observing the kids exploring the land we live on.
I’ve had three pregnancies, three births and three postpartum journeys, again, all very different with different experiences, different affects from hormones and emotions. I have felt everything from being on cloud nine and absolutely loving my life, to wanting to give up and not being excited to have my baby (and that was after my third!).
I dreaded the thoughts of the first year, the feeding, the possibility of bottles, starting on food/solids, the sitting, the crawling, everything seemed so hard and so scary!! But I learnt its normal and its okay, not everyone just falls madly in love straight away with motherhood and that’s OKAY! Not everyone is excited and that’s OKAY!
My goal as a doula is for all my clients to feel SAFE! Safe to feel what they’re feeling without judgment and to work alongside the potentially hardest few weeks of their life. Pregnancy alone can be a challenge, birth is a challenge itself, and postpartum can be the repercussions of both let alone the challenges.
It’s important to maintain emotional and mental health during this period. And having the support and guidance is essential.
Unfortunately, the medical system cannot, and does not provide the support women need for pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and that, is why I’m a doula, to nurture, support and love women when they really need it the most.
My name is Kirsten Grigor, and I am a qualified doula who has trained at the Doula Training Academy. If you would like more information about my doula services, please contact me.
